Top Trends Fall/Winter 2015
The 70’s Vibe continues…and includes plenty of FRINGE. Fringe is everywhere, and I love it on boots, bags and skirts. It can pair well with everything from jeans and a T-shirt to a cocktail dress. Also seeing more flared jeans(and pants) — even cropped frayed jeans and patchwork — and earth tones. These boho and mod looks are everywhere. I’ve already found a pair of suede booties with a little fringe tassel that makes my black Skinnies and crop pants feel updated.
Head to toe Black. Hard to believe that they’re calling this a fashion trend! It’s always been one of my favorites and certainly the easiest look to pull together no matter your budget. So embrace your dark side this season and shake it up by mixing patterns and texture.
Urban minimalist. This includes easy sweater dresses and clean, simple shapes that give you a pulled together look but are cozy at the same time. Think of this trend as refined, more sophisticated comfy clothes. Neutral or natural hues makes this a winning look!
Statement Sweaters. Whether fuzzy, ribbed, bulky or fine knit, with a distinctive pattern or a color block – statement sweaters, cardigans and sweater coats are everywhere! Great for fall (of course) and can take your basic wardrobe up a notch with an entrance-making design. Don’t forget sleeveless jackets or vests are great for adding warmth and can be polished enough to wear once you’re inside too.
Geek Chic. From plaid prints to tortoiseshell glasses The “quirky, brainy” girl style is in. Think the Royal Tenenbaums or any Wes Anderson movie. Definitely not for everyone but fun to try in small doses. Maybe glasses?
Cropped pants and culottes! This season painted on skinnies are not quite as fashion-forward as a more body-skimming pant. Sometimes menswear-inspired but also just cropped or culottes worn with a chunky heel boot. Try to fill in the space between your ankle and foot with a higher shaft bootie or ankle strap shoe.
Dark red and Marsala wine. These beautiful and flattering fall tones are hot right now. Update your neutral wardrobe with a sweater, handbag or boot in this great versatile color.
Victorian Romance. Fashion looks romantic with nostalgic lace and embroidery. Sheer fabrics, high necklines and gilded details are perfect for nighttime or a moody day. Victorian jewelry including brooches and pendants are also making their way back into fashion after a long hibernation. A pretty victorian blouse paired with black Skinnies is a great way to incorporate this trend and make it look modern. Don’t forget to pull your hair up and show collar.
Cold weather chic. Puffy coats and shearling in soft, light fabrications are in and will keep you warm this winter. Lots of new shapes make it fun and fresh, and you can also incorporate a fur (faux is great) scarf or collar.
Fall Shoe trends. I’m seeing a lot of menswear loafers (love with cropped pants), fabulous flats with feminine details and chunky blocked or stacked heel shoes. These updates from last year give a look that’s on trend plus easy to walk in.
make up finds
I just completed a big search for a new under eye concealer and the winner is… Mac Mineralize. Love it for its light weight feel and easy spreadability.
For a little fall shine on your lips, Bobbie Brown’s Blue Raspberry adds a touch of color that works on most lips..saw this on one of my client’s lips and loved the soft look.
Sephora’s luster matte eye shadow has been working well for me. It illuminates the eye without the shimmer that sinks into creases. Desert Rose and Safari are both great colors.
And finally, I’m getting lots of compliments on a 2014 OPI color – KIss Me or Elf. Still works for this fall if you want to check it out.
