Top Trends – Spring/Summer 2012
Tangerine Tango
Tangerine Tango is the pantone color of 2012. This means that lots of citrus orange-toned clothes and accessories will be out in stores. My favorite choice in these tones is coral as it’s the easiest to wear on many skin types. If you love orange, a great tote or sandal could be a fun pop of color this season. And don’t forget the makeup…soft shades of coral in lipsticks, blush or gloss give a subtle, feminine glow to your spring look.
Modern Romantics
Modern Romantics. The success of Boardwalk Empire, the Artist and the upcoming Great Gatsby have brought historically feminine fashion back into the limelight. Beautiful Art Deco-inspired jewelry and dresses with flowy shapes and longer hemlines are available for those romantics at heart!
For jewelry, pendants, chokers (sometimes worn together) and dangle earrings are big this season. I love all the yellow gold choices, especially with black accents. My favorite new necklace is a black jet pendant circled with yellow gold.
Print-A-Palooza
Although prints have been a fashion staple lately, a wider array of patterns, designs and colors keep them fresh.
- Color Blocking/Graphic – amped up color blocking and geometric design are attention-getting and work best with a clean silhouette. I love a two-color combo such as hot pink and orange.
- Floral – Bold and brighter varieties are available and look especially great on accessories and warm weather dresses
- Stripes – Still everywhere, and still love the timeless navy and white tops for summer
- Animal prints – classic and natural tones are the perennial favorite
Choose prints that work with your body proportions to bring attention where you want it. Printed pants and shorts are featured in many magazines. If this look flatters you, be sure to team it with a neutral top and minimal jewelry.
Sporty Silhouettes
Sporty Silhouettes are making their appearance in a more refined way. Anorak style jackets, drawstring waist skirts tennis style sweaters and updated hoodies are stylish and very easy to wear! They are great with a simple sandal or a clean white tennis shoe.
Pastels
Pastels – soft candy colors (think Jordan Almonds) such as light pink, sea foam and mint green are fresh this spring. When using these colors I prefer simple classic shapes paired with whites, neutrals and soft metallics.
Shoes and Handbags
Shoes and Handbags – chunky heels, platform and wedges are still the biggest looks. I love the color blocked shoes and handbags available this spring. My personal favorite combines neutrals such as black, beige, tan, or ivory, but don’t be afraid to try full-on color or pale hues.
